thank you so much for this – i found it fascinating. i happened upon it just after looking at the hereford centre’s website in a very preliminary-to-any-firm-decision sort of way, and starting to worry about the usual things – length of time away from my family (i also have a ‘beautiful boy, beautiful girl’), likely resilience to potential bollocks aspects, likely tolerance of unheard-of full 10 days of silence, etc. i really enjoyed everything you had to say about it. it sounds like we ponder the same things a lot of the time, despite our different religious backgrounds. i struggle with the same unanswered questions as you do, as so many of us do, every day, and i understand exactly what you mean when you say you’ve got to the limits of where your intellect can take you, and were looking for a different way in which to seek answers. i liked the story of your grandfather’s last days very much. you write beautifully. i wish you well in your continued quest!!
