sorry qunfuz, back again, i didn't mean to be anonymous - i went too quickly there on the keyboard! i'm going to read some of the rest of your blog now, it's all stuff that really interests me, especially what you have to say about being a muslim at a time like this in history, and i'm delighted to have come across you. good luck with what you're doing.

thank you so much for this - i found it fascinating. i happened upon it just after looking at the hereford centre's website in a very preliminary-to-any-firm-decision sort of way, and starting to worry about the usual things - length of time away from my family (i also have a 'beautiful boy, beautiful girl'), likely resilience to potential bollocks aspects, likely tolerance of unheard-of full 10 days of silence, etc. i really enjoyed everything you had to say about it. it sounds like we ponder the same things a lot of the time, despite our different religious backgrounds. i struggle with the same unanswered questions as you do, as so many of us do, every day, and i understand exactly what you mean when you say you've got to the limits of where your intellect can take you, and were looking for a different way in which to seek answers. i liked the story of your grandfather's last days very much. you write beautifully. i wish you well in your continued quest!!
