		<description><![CDATA[It is encouraging to see Ramadan loosen his corsets. Though they are by no means as tight as those of Angry Arab, and though his personal chauvism is by no means as ingrained, these corsets constrict thought.  Something I try to explain to my more dunderheaded Ur-leftist friends -- it is not enough to give class analysis. It is never enough to divine motives of &#039;The West&#039; as if it were some great, stupid, lumbering individual. It is never sufficient to let one&#039;s gloriously correct politics dictate or strongly suggest one&#039;s conclusions about events ... before the work is done.

All in all, encouraging. Now maybe some of what got into Ramadan can be put into the water or a tonic. A de-Zombification agent. An antidote to forty-plus years of &#039;Resistance&#039; rhetoric, a  rhetoric that sustained the autocracy in Tishreen Palace.
